Wedding pledge for a Military Wedding

A busy Easter period preparing lots of celebration cakes and Wedding cake consultations at Cakes by Kit means I only just get to write about an amazing project that culminated in a beautiful Wedding at Whitney Lakes Resort on Good Friday, 3rd April 2015. Over a year ago I was approached to see if I would help with a competition that was offering pledges from different wedding suppliers to offer a couple from the Military or Emergency Services a complete wedding package as the prize. This competition was organised by The Lula Mai Events team (themselves Military wives) who worked tirelessly to organise this brilliant idea. Over the months I was kept informed of the progress of the project, we met the bride and groom and liased with them and the Lula Mai team to ensure that our individual pledges were co-ordinated and designed as the bride and groom wished. The couple that won, Emma & Ross were very warm and welcomed our efforts and contributions and we were frequently acknowledged and thanked.

Here is a little picture diary of my small contribution:

Why would we get involved? Busy wedding suppliers giving time and effort? I cannot speak for the others but I want to give back to society, to people who work in these services, who do so to benefit us all. As the day approached I was delighted and humbled to be invited to Ross & Emma’s Wedding Ceremony, something I had ever expected at the start of this project. It was fabulous to see the final result of all the work given by all the suppliers and of course I got to see the dress!! I cannot mention all of the suppliers but they are featured on The Lula Mai Big Day blog. The ceremony was very moving and afterwards we were treated to a first drink whilst listening to the ladies of The Military Choir. After passing my Congratulations to the newlyweds I slipped away with a warm heart and wishing Ross & Emma all the very best for their married life together!!
